Prayer Requests

January 18, 2009

Women’s Retreat. Our staff is heading out this week to Springfield, MO to lead a Women’s Retreat for Gary and Sharon’s old church, First Evangelical Free. We are soooo excited to get to spend time with these women, to share the messages and testimonies that God has put on our hearts, and to minister to these beautiful creations. Please pray for God’s will to be done, for women to experience His love for them this weekend, and that God would make us humble before Him as we become vessels of His word to go forth. I will be sharing testimonies of God’s provision in my life and trumpeting the character of the Father’s love – pray that God would release revelation of how He really is a Papa to those women and desires so much to take care of them in every area of their lives.

The Call – Southern Illinois. The body of Christ from all over Southern Illinois is gathering for a day of prayer and fasting for our region on January 31st. Pray for all who are meant to be there – to be there. Pray that many would come from all different churches and backgrounds – that truly the diversity of the body of Christ would be in attendance. Pray for a true spirit of repentance to fall on us, and that we would be led totally by the Holy Spirit to pray and partner with God in that place of intercession. Pray for all those in leadership, those praying, and worship teams that we would all be submitted to God. Our worship team will be leading a set and I would ask for prayers for us that we would become nothing that He would be everything.

Mission Control. By the grace of God, we have been given permission to start an after school prayer meeting (“Mission Control”) for the kids at a local elementary school. I will probably write more about this later, but please pray that everything will go through, permission slips would come back, and that God would protect this time and these students as they make a commitment to seek Him on the grounds of a public school.

2009

January 18, 2009

2008 finished off well. I headed down to Texas for a few weeks during Christmas to see family. It’s always a blessing to see them and somehow dream that someday we’d all live closer together. I did enjoy the 70 degree weather, the introduction to the Wii (thanks, Tim), and just times to talk to my family. Special moments included a special day out with my brother to P.F. Changs, a last night snuggle with my mom watching The Vicar of Dibley, rousing games of Boom Blox, pumpkin cookies, meeting my beautiful niece, Anna, praying with three generations of my family, seeing the Bransfords, watching Fasier, seeing my dad as a very smitten Poppi with Anna, and time with the Lord at the gym. The only thing missing was a much beloved sister, my wonderful brother-in-law, and my favorite nephew. We missed them much, but enjoyed at least getting to see them and chat through the wonders of Skype.

I took to the road again shortly after Christmas day to head up to Kansas City for the One Thing conference. I had been to this conference a few years ago, but knew this year was going to be a little different. Several months ago I found myself in the prayer room here in Cairo weeping before the Lord feeling very unprepared for the days to come, crying out, “Jesus, please help me to understand what it is going to take to prepare for you to come back!” This conference was very much focused on just that and was a direct answer to prayer. At the end of it, the phrase that really impacted me was “eating the scroll” or getting into God’s Word. I left with a renewal in my spirit to get into the Word of God, whatever it takes, to live and breath it, to be rooted and grounded in it. It really is a “lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”. If I need guidance or direction, I must go to God’s Word, and if I desire to find my destiny I must abandon all for the sake of knowing Him more (if you lose your life for My sake, you will find it). I felt a call again to prayer and fasting and a deep, deep desire to know Him more and more. My affections for the book of Revelations and End Times scriptures (150 chapters in the Bible!) has certainly grown as God is showing me again how His great love begets His great justice throughout the world.

So I’ve set out on a journey this year – a great desire to discover the landscapes of the Kingdom of God, to renew my mind with God’s Truth, to drink deeper, and when God directs and allows to speak boldly of the gospel of the Kingdom – not just that we are forgiven through Christ, but that the King is returning and we must get ready – for our generation- or a generation down the line that will see Him face to face.

If you are interested in seeing some of the teachings from this years’ onething conference
go here

And as with any teachings or sermons, be a Berean – study it for yourself. If it’s not in God’s Word throw it out.
