Cairo House of Prayer (CHOP)

October 12, 2008

After weeks of packing, moving, and cleaning we are finally moved over into our new ministry home, “Hannah’s House”. We bought an abandoned home 3 years ago at a tax auction for about $450. God led us to begin rehabbing the home to be used as a outlet for Children’s ministry. We’ve had hundreds of people come together to labor and provide for this house over the last few years, it really has been a complete work of the Lord, I can’t say that enough.

God has been speaking to us for a while that we would be moving out of the Old St. Joe’s school building. We just weren’t quite sure where we were going. After much prayer and leading, God made it clear that we were moving into Hannah’s House for a season.

It’s perfect. God has been showing us that while we thought he moved us all to Cairo to start a ministry – He really called us here to start a family, a spiritual family. And while we thought he was building a house, He was really creating a home. So the family is moving home, really.

It is so precious to now hold all our prayer, worship, tutoring, Bible studies, etc. in a home. In light of this season of transition we are adopting a new name, the “Cairo House of Prayer”. It has in reality always been the name we clung to as our identity, but we are releasing it to the community anew. Our prayer is that this little town truly would see this home as THEIR house of prayer, and that many would come together to seek Christ in the place of prayer and worship.

Here’s some before and after photos of the new Cairo House of Prayer or CHOP. Also, read Stacy’s blog about us moving, it’s wonderful. There are more “before” pictures that I can’t locate right now that give a better feel of how far God has taken us, but these will do for now!

From the mouth of babes. In the midst of an election that is anything but fun and games, I found this a refreshing respite.

How Great is our God

October 4, 2008

Our team watched a video a few weeks ago by Lou Giglio entitled “How Great is our God”. He talks about how amazing and infinite our God is by examining some of the wonders of His creation. Truly inspiring. Here is the whole talk via YouTube. Each video is about 10mins long, so take some time to watch them all or catch a few here or there!
